Eliminate fear by doing something different
Have you ever asked yourself the question “What is the worst that could happen?” Well, research has shown that we place a lot of importance on potential problems rather than the outcome. For this reason, we let ourselves forget we can be successful. Instead, we see those problems when we should be improving self-confidence. Instead we should be creating extraordinary relationships, pushing our careers and working to achieve our goals rather than wasting our energy on the bad things that might happen. Eliminating fear is essential if we want to achieve what we desire. We need to eliminate fear by doing something different.
The truth of the matter is that you should take action on what you have control over. You must try your level best to limit risks for those situations where you do not know the outcome. It is advisable to invest your energy and time wisely. Here are some tips to improve your self-confidence and eliminate fear.
1. Visualise success to help eliminate fear
If you are doing something for the first time, take it as if you have already done it in the past. Close your eyes and vividly imagine your success. Psychological research has shown that our mind does not know how to differentiate a vivid image and something that is real. For this reason, it is very powerful to imagine everything vividly by involving all the five senses. So see, think and feel your success.
2. A confident role model
At the same time, you are recommended to look for someone who is already an expert and confident in what you are trying to do and copy them. Try as much as possible to model their beliefs, values, attitudes and behaviours as confidently as you can. It’s a bit like trying on a new piece of clothing and finding out that it makes you feel different. The trick is to feel different and mirror your role model.
3. Take classes
This can be a great way to build up confidence. Any sort of class that gets you in front of people works. Whether it’s classes on creating a presentation, theatre classes or any other sort. Standing up in front of people allows you to become more comfortable with it and in turn, become better. Acting skills help you to mirror and build confidence.
4. Act as if
It all is impossible, try using the “as if” statement. Ask yourself this question, “If he was me in this situation, how would he act?” By doing this you will get to answer yourself the following question. How should I be acting? What should I be acting? How should I be speaking? And how should I be thinking? Asking the right questions will help you access your subconscious mind and help you to identify new ways of being outside of your comfort zone.
5. Visualise the future
Take your mind into the future and try seeing yourself as a big deal. This technique may seem a bit morbid but it works well. Imagine yourself at your death bed looking back over your life; surrounded by friends and family members. Imagine all the things you could achieve and those that you wish to achieve. This technique is known to eliminate fear. What would you like your legacy to be? This questions actually makes you focus on what you would like to achieve in life.
6. Reinforce self-belief
Remember, fear is something that could cause you to lose out on 100% of opportunities that you have never taken advantage of. Many people never get the opportunity to fully get everything that they need or want in life. For this reason, it is important to think of what you are looking for, your goals and the things you are striving for. Believe that people will help you get what you want whether you currently think it is true or not. Eventually, you will find yourself believing that and adopt it as your own. Then you find you actually create your own reality. Ignore any negative inner voice. Otherwise, you will find yourself back to where you were at the beginning.
